Patients & Visitors
Current Visitor Guidelines
In response to the presence of COVID-19 in Arizona, Northwest Medical Center, Oro Valley Hospital, Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita and Northwest Healthcare affiliated clinics are implementing a restricted Hospital and Clinic Patient Visitor Policy for all medical sites.
Effective Monday, 2/22, at 7:00 am, visitation will be allowed as follows:
- Emergency room patients are allowed one visitor at the bedside only. Visitors will not be able to leave the patient’s room. If the patient is admitted, the visitor will be asked to leave the hospital.
- Non-COVID Inpatients will be allowed one visitor a day, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Visitors will not be able to leave the patient's room. Lobbies, cafeterias and other common areas remain closed to visitors.
- Labor and delivery and postpartum patients will be allowed one adult support person. The visitor must remain the same throughout the entire stay.
- NICU babies will be allowed two adult visitors. Visitors must remain the same throughout the entire stay.
- Pediatric patients in other areas of the hospital/clinics can have one parent or adult caregiver with them.
- Non-COVID end-of-life patients will be allowed one visitor.
- All other visitation at Northwest Medical Center, Oro Valley Hospital, Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita, Northwest Primary & Specialty Care Clinics, Northwest Urgent Cares, Northwest Emergency Centers and all affiliated outpatient departments is still suspended. Additional visitors essential to patient care will be considered on a case by case basis (translation, discharge needs, dementia care, etc.).
Visitors will be asked screening questions by a medical professional at each entrance, and have their temperature taken. If positive for any COVID-19 symptoms, individuals will be asked not to visit patients and leave the facility. All visitors will be required to wear a mask for the duration of their stay.
The COVID-19 Visitor Policy is intended to provide additional safeguards for our patients, families, visitors and caregivers through decreased exposure to individuals who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Due to the changing nature of COVID-19’s presence in Arizona, this policy will be revised accordingly in response to circumstances.
