Northwest Healthcare Collecting Peanut Butter to Fight Hunger in Pima County

Fourth Annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive Will Support the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Northwest Healthcare is working to fight hunger in the Tucson community by collecting peanut butter to donate to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Our fourth annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is from Feb. 23 through March 31.
We collect peanut butter because it food banks tell us it is one of the least donated items – even though it is shelf stable and high in nutritional value.
“Every year, Northwest Healthcare makes it a priority to give back to our community, and Jars of Love is one of our favorite ways to show that we care,” said Ben Ridder, Northwest Medical Center CEO. “An estimated 14 percent of Pima County residents experience food insecurity, which contributes to poor health. The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is working to address hunger in our area, and we are proud to support their efforts – one jar of peanut butter at a time.”
This year, Northwest Healthcare has a goal to collect 10,000 jars of peanut butter and other nut butters.
"Community food drives are essential to our work, and we are grateful to our partners at Northwest Healthcare for their continued support,” says Natecia Daniel, community events manager with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. “Peanut butter is one of our most needed items and a vital ingredient in both our child nutrition and health and nutrition programs. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive helps ensure this nutritious staple reaches our neighbors across Southern Arizona who need it."
Thanks to everyone who is working together to help Northwest Healthcare stock the pantries of our friends and neighbors in Pima County!
