Northwest Healthcare to Offer Free Hernia Screenings and Hernia Education on September 10

Community encouraged to take advantage of early detection opportunity
TUCSON, AZ – Aug. 18, 2025 – Northwest Healthcare is inviting the community to attend a free Hernia Screening Day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 10, at the Northwest Medical Center cafeteria. The hospital is located at 6200 N. La Cholla Blvd.
This educational event is an opportunity for adults to get a confidential evaluation from an experienced medical professional. These quick, non-invasive screenings often identify potential hernias, which can otherwise go unnoticed in early stages.
“Hernias often start small and may not cause pain at first, but over time they can lead to serious problems if left untreated,” said Seda Bourikian, M.D., of Northwest General Surgery at Tucson. “Early detection is key – it allows us to provide treatment options to help prevent discomfort, complications, and even emergency surgery down the road.”
You may benefit from a screening if you:
- Are experiencing abdominal discomfort or a bulge
- Regularly lift heavy objects
- Have a family history of hernias
- Are an athlete or a very active person
Light refreshments will be served.
Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure timely screening. To reserve your spot and learn more, visit https://shorturl.at/CL3jM.
