Oro Valley Hospital Nurse Nardos Feshazion Receives National Award for Nursing Excellence
7/13/2026
Nardos Feshazion, a registered nurse at Oro Valley Hospital for almost two years, has received a national Nursing Excellence Award.
Feshazion is one of ten national winners selected across all hospitals affiliated with Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers. Developing and operating healthcare delivery systems in 32 distinct markets across 12 states, the organization’s affiliates include Oro Valley Hospital and 59 other hospitals.
Hospital leadership surprised Feshazion with the recognition by presenting her with a crystal plaque and a symbolic check for the cash award she received.
“Nardos, you show up with 100% of your heart every single time,” wrote Shelley Gouby, director of Oro Valley Hospital’s emergency department, in her award nomination. “You champion change, fight for our staff, and give everything you have to lift up your peers even when you are pulling the heavy weight yourself. That level of grit and resilience is rare, and I see it. Your dedication is quite literally building the future of nursing…The future of healthcare in our entire region is safer because you help shape the next generation.”
The Nursing Excellence Award program was created in 2020 with the celebration of the “Year of the Nurse” as a means to recognize the tremendous effort and sacrifice made by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the sixth occasion for the peer-nominated award recognizing the vital work nurses play in Northwest Healthcare’s work to make the healthcare experience exceptional.
Characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence include outstanding care, compassion, service and innovation, and reflect the efforts of someone who is a demonstrated team player and/or mentor to others, is a leader in times of crises, and who regularly promotes health in the community.
Northwest Healthcare embraces this opportunity to honor individuals who personify outstanding care, compassion, service and innovation – and who are demonstrated team players and/or mentors who focus on leading in times of crises and regularly promoting health in the community.
The leadership team extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to Nardos Feshazion and to everyone else who is making the healthcare experience exceptional for patients and families in Pima County.
