New Maternal Early Warning System a Second Set of Eyes at Northwest Women's Center
4/26/2022
As part of our commitment to highly reliable and safe patient care at our Women’s Center, Northwest Medical Center is now using an FDA-approved fetal heart rate and maternal early warning system – a second set of eyes to watch over our smallest, most vulnerable patients and their mothers.
This powerful artificial intelligence gathers and analyzes vast amounts of data for thousands of different patients. Based on what it learns from this data, it makes fast, accurate predictions and recommendations for individualized patient care.
Specifically, this technology supports the OB team by reviewing a woman’s vital signs, her baby’s heart rate, and other important health and safety information. If the system detects anything unusual, it immediately alerts the team so they can provide better, faster, more accurate care.
“Nurses who use this technology tell me it’s been been a fantastic tool for us,” said Chad Hatfield, chief executive officer of Northwest Medical Center. “It acts as an instant validation and verification of their work, and gives them even more confidence in the patient care decisions they make. An investment in this kind of technology is an investment in patient safety.”
