Childbirth Education
Whether you're a first-time parent or just need a refresher, The Women’s Center offers free parent and family education classes to help you prepare for pregnancy, birth and beyond. We want to help you gain the confidence and knowledge you need to have a positive and memorable experience before and after the birth of your baby.
Childbirth Classes
Join us for our new Childbirth Basics class covering the very basics of labor, delivery, recovery and care with Northwest Women's Center. This class is taught by a highly experienced labor and delivery registered nurse. We recommend that you be at least 28 weeks pregnant (in your third trimester) when you take this class.
Topics include:
- Signs of labor
- The labor and birth process
- Comfort and care for an unmedicated labor
- IV pain meds and epidural pain management in labor
- Cesarean births
- Newborn characteristics and hospital care
- The Women’s Center procedures, including COVID-19 policies
- Postpartum care
This class is interactive overview of the first three months of your baby's life, also known as "the 4th trimester."
Topics include:
- Newborn characteristics
- Daily care, including bathing, feeding, sleeping, soothing and safety
- Skills to calm your baby
- Recognizing illness and knowing when to call the doctor
When you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email one to two days before the event.

Join us for our new, online Breastfeeding 101, a thorough run-through of the very basics of breastfeeding with Northwest Women's Center.
In this one-session class, we offer helpful information to increase parental understanding and confidence about breastfeeding.
This class is intended to be taken before baby arrives, but new mothers are welcome as well. Partners and support people are encouraged to attend.
Log in 5 minutes before class starts to ask questions, meet instructor, introduce yourself and settle into meeting.
Stay 15 minutes after the class to discuss, get detailed answers and receive information on important community resources.
When you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email. 24 hours before the event, you will receive a second email with the Google Meets link for the class.

Please, only register one ticket with one email per couple. Classes are free. Registration for the classes will end as soon as the class reaches its maximum capacity or two days before the class. You will receive a confirmation email with the link a few days before the class.
